Uganda AIDS Commission To Implement Five-Year Program
The Uganda AIDS Commission plans to implement a five-year strategy aimed at reducing the spread of HIV in the country by more than 40%, the New Vision/AllAfrica.com reports. The strategy will focus on boosting the ABC approach to HIV prevention -- which stands for abstinence, be faithful and use condoms -- and on providing people living with HIV/AIDS with treatment access.

High prevalence of oral lesions associated with HIV/AIDS in south western Uganda
ORAL health experts and researchers at the recent 21st Annual Scientific Conference, have confirmed the high prevalence of oral lesions associated with HIV/AIDS in south western Uganda.

Francis Tirwomwe and E. Agwu, researchers at Kampala International University’s western campus in Bushenyi, revealed that a total of 605 (about 73.2%) of HIV/AIDS patients attached to The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) centres in southwestern Uganda, suffer from oral lesions.
